The torch tip and ground clamp must both contact polished bare metal to form a complete conductive circuit for arc ignition. Important Note: Heavy rust, paint and insulation block conduction. Grind both the cutting start point and ground clamp contact area to expose bare metal first. After ignition, you may cut lightly rusted or coated material along the cut line. Built-in anti-waste protection: it automatically cuts off arc output if the trigger is held over 3 seconds without metal contact to lessen consumable wear.
