Pentair Pentek S1 Series cartridges are manufactured from pleated, resin-impregnated cellulose media and are designed for general-purpose sediment filtration. With a nominal 20 micron rating, the S1 reduces dirt, sand, silt, and sediment particles to keep your water cleaner and help protect appliances, plumbing, and downstream filters.The pleated design maximizes surface area for high dirt-holding capacity, and the overlap seam is sonically welded to reduce bypass and improve filtration efficiency. The media is pleated around a polypropylene core for added strength, and the pleated endcaps are immersed in a thermo-setting vinyl plastisol for a secure seal.This economical 10-inch cartridge measures 10" x 2.5" and drops into standard 10-inch housings. The S1 is recommended for chlorinated water supplies only; do not use it on well water or other non-chlorinated sources. Rated over a 40 to 145 degrees F range with a 2.4 psi initial pressure drop at 10 gpm, the cartridge should be replaced whenever you notice a drop in water pressure or water quality.
