About this item

Compact 1.8mm/2mm LED for miniature displays - 50 White 1.8mm/2mm tower LEDs — the smallest standard LED form factor — fit miniature displays, dollhouse lighting, model railroad scale buildings, and tight spaces
Cool white emission at 8,000-10,000 mcd - Through-hole tower LED with 3.0-3.4V forward voltage at 20mA drive current. Narrow 20-30 degree viewing angle produces a tight focused beam from the clear lens, well suited to pinpoint illumination, indicator dots, and scale-model headlight or interior lighting applications.
1.8mm cylindrical tower package - Compact 1.8mm diameter through-hole body is the smallest standard DIP LED footprint, fitting into tight enclosures, scale model windows, and dense PCB layouts where 3mm and 5mm LEDs will not clear. Two radial leads accept standard hand-soldering, breadboard, or socket mounting.
Polarity and resistor reference - Through-hole LEDs are polarity-sensitive: longer lead is anode (+), shorter lead is cathode (−). For 20mA drive current with a 3.0-3.4V LED, use a series resistor of 100Ω 1/4W on 5V, 300Ω 1/4W on 9V, 470Ω 1/4W on 12V, or 620Ω 1/2W on 15V.
Cool white miniature applications - 1.8mm size and cool white tone suit HO and N scale structure lighting for model railroad buildings, dollhouse interior lamps and sconces, diorama window glow, miniature displays, wearable electronics, and any tight-space build where a 3mm LED is too large to fit behind a scale window or wall.

Product Description

1.8mm Cool White tower LED — a compact through-hole indicator for miniature lighting installs. Specifications: - LED type: 1.8mm cylindrical tower, through-hole (DIP) - Color: Cool White - Lens: Clear - Forward voltage: 3.0-3.4V - Drive current: 20mA - Luminous intensity: 8,000-10,000 mcd - Viewing angle: 20-30 degrees - Leads: standard untinned through-hole leads (longer lead is anode/positive) At 1.8mm diameter, this is among the smallest standard through-hole LEDs available, fitting recesses and drilled holes where a 3mm or 5mm package will not clear. The cool white color temperature produces an incandescent-style glow suited to scale interior lighting rather than the bluish cast of cool white. A current-limiting resistor sized to the supply voltage is required for operation; calculate using (Vsupply - Vf) / 0.020A. Applications: - HO and N scale model railroad structure lighting (storefront windows, station interiors, signal house lamps) - Dollhouse interior lighting (table lamps, ceiling fixtures, fireplace glow) - Diorama scene lighting where larger LED packages obscure scale detail - Miniature display cases and architectural models The narrow 20-30 degree viewing angle produces a directional beam useful for simulating point-source lamps inside scale structures. Anode and cathode are identified by lead length; the longer lead is positive.
