About this item

  • ONE CARTRIDGE, ONE SERVICE INTERVAL – A single 20 in drop-in carbon block sized for foodservice filter bowls, not for household Big Blue housings. Compressed carbon holds the media in a fixed bed so water moves through it evenly instead of channeling, and a high-porosity build keeps the cartridge passing water rather than plugging before its carbon is spent. Most operators run these on a six-month preventative maintenance schedule alongside the rest of the equipment service.
  • BETTER-TASTING FOUNTAIN DRINKS AND COFFEE – Carbonated beverage, brewed coffee and espresso all carry the taste of the water they are made from, and chlorine is what most customers notice first. This cartridge reduces chlorine taste and odor and captures fine particulate before the water reaches your dispenser, brewer or ice machine, so the syrup ratio and the roast are what come through.
  • CHECK YOUR BOWL BEFORE YOU ORDER – This is the slim 20 in cartridge, about 2.87 in across. It replaces cartridges numbered CG53-20S and EV9108-67, and fits the SC10-21 and the CGS-20 Single, CGS-22 Dual, CGS-23 Parallel and CGS-55 Single series systems. It is NOT a Big Blue cartridge. A 20 x 4.5 in housing takes a much wider cartridge, and this one would sit loose in that sump and let water pass around it.
  • MATCH THE FILTER TO YOUR WATER – Carbon block is a taste and odor stage. If your incoming line carries visible sediment, run a sediment cartridge ahead of it so the carbon is not doing particulate work it was not built for. On hard water, scale is a separate problem from taste and needs its own treatment. If you have not had the water tested, a test is the fastest way to know which stages you actually need.

Product Description

A single 20 in carbon block water filter cartridge for foodservice filter bowls that take CG53-20S or EV9108-67. This is the slim 20 in size, roughly 2.87 in in diameter. It is a drop-in cartridge for commercial beverage systems, not a household Big Blue cartridge. If your housing is a 20 x 4.5 in Big Blue, this cartridge will not seal in it and water will bypass around the outside. The media is compressed carbon block. Compression holds the carbon in a fixed bed, so water passes through evenly rather than finding low-resistance paths, and a high-porosity build lets the cartridge keep flowing rather than plugging before its adsorption capacity is used up. It reduces chlorine taste and odor and captures fine particulate. Where it matters most is beverage quality. Fountain drinks, brewed coffee and espresso all taste like the water behind them, and chlorine is the first thing a customer notices. Filtering ahead of the dispenser, brewer or ice machine also keeps fine particulate out of equipment that is expensive to service. Service life depends on volume and on what the incoming water carries. Most operators change these on a six-month preventative maintenance schedule, or sooner if flow drops off. Fits the CGS-20, CGS-22, CGS-23 and CGS-55 series bowls and SC10-21. Measure your existing cartridge before ordering if you are unsure which size your system takes.
