The Generac 50A Load Manager (Model 7000) is a Smart Management Module designed to protect your standby generator or energy storage system from overload by automatically shedding and restoring large electrical loads in a controlled sequence. It works with any single-phase 240V home standby generator — not just Generac — and requires no external controller or low-voltage control wires to operate. How it works. Each module continuously monitors grid frequency (Hz). When your generator is under strain and frequency begins to drop, the module detects the change and immediately sheds its assigned load, giving the generator the headroom it needs to recover. Once the system stabilizes, the module restores the load based on its assigned priority — lower priority numbers reconnect first, then higher numbers follow at timed intervals ranging from 5 to 6 minutes plus up to 45 seconds per step. Setting priorities. The internal priority dial lets you assign each module a unique number from 1 to 8. No two modules should share the same number — duplicate settings can cause undefined sequencing behavior. For loads that should never run during a generator event (pool pumps, hot tubs, non-essential circuits), set the module to lockout-only mode. When utility power returns, all locked-out loads restore automatically. Built for real installation environments. The NEMA 3R enclosure handles rain, sleet, and ice formation outdoors, giving you flexible mounting options near the electrical panel or directly at the appliance. Wiring requires 8 AWG copper conductors for a 50A circuit. Install the module upstream of the appliance's local circuit breaker. Due to the 240V wiring involved, installation by a licensed electrician is strongly recommended. Scales with your system. Up to eight 50A Load Managers can be deployed on a single generator system. A companion 100A module (Model 7006) is available for larger loads. Five coded external LED states allow real-time status monitoring without opening the enclosure.
