Product Description

The UNIX vanity plate is produced as it was originally seen on Bill Shannon's 280ZX. Bill was an engineer working on Unix at Digital Equipment Corporation and he registered his car with this vanity plate. Armando Stettner, an engineer with an interest in marketing was later inspired to create thousands of UNIX vanity plates that look significantly different but did consist of Live Free or Die and UNIX in the same white and green colors as the plate (and yes, we are producing the replica of that version of the plate as well). These plates became known as the geek vanity plate' and are found in programmers' offices, universities, other countries, and even in the Smithsonian! All of this transpired from Bill Shannon's vanity vanity plate. Disclaimer: This is a decorative vanity plate intended only for display, collectible, and novelty purposes. It is not a registered vanity plate. This plate should not be used as a replacement for a government-issued vanity plate on any motor vehicle. Misuse of this product may violate local laws and regulations.
