About this item
- ✅ Rams and other dwarf cichlids are popular among aquarists for their vivid coloration, small size, and interesting personalities. The German Black Ram Cichlid displays superb coloration and exhibits plenty of personality once established in the aquarium.
- ✅ Thrives in an aquarium with a sandy substrate and plenty of refuge such as clay pots, driftwood, and rock formations. Compatible with a planted aquarium but also needs open space. Territoriality peaks during spawning.
- ✅ Generally compatible with other peaceful fish as long as it has plenty of space. However, dwarf shrimp and other delicate invertebrates should be avoided as tankmates. Larger shrimp and snails may be suitable in larger aquariums.
- ✅ Unfussy eaters, the German Black Ram Cichlid readily accepts high-quality dry, frozen, and live meaty foods. A varied diet ensures optimal health and coloration.
- ✅ Offered as sub-adult specimens displaying superb coloration. Sexing may not be available currently but may be offered in the future if possible.
- ✅ Optimal temperature ranges from 78.8° - 86° F (26° - 30° C) with a pH of 6.0 - 7.5. Tank-bred specimens are more flexible regarding pH levels. A minimum tank size of 20-30 gallons is recommended for a small group.
- ✅ Carnivorous diet, congregates loosely in groups, and is indigenous to South America. Average adult size ranges from 1.4 – 1.6 inches with an average purchase size of 1 – 1.2 inches.
