#12-24 Keps K-Lock Nuts, External Tooth Washer, Steel, 100 Pack

About this item

• A hex nut pre-assembled with a free spinning external tooth lock washer. The locking action is achieved when the nut is tightened against a bearing surface as the teeth of the lock washer dig into it. Material: NUTS: AISI 1008-1020 or equivalent steel; WASHERS: 1050-03 or equivalent steel
• This is the most popular type of locknut because of its versatility, cost and ease of installation. Doesn't gall screw threads
• External Tooth Keps Nuts: These nuts have teeth on the external side, which engage with the surface of the material they are fastened to. As the nut is tightened, the teeth bite into the material, preventing rotation and maintaining a secure hold.
• Keps nuts are commonly used in applications where vibration or movement could potentially cause regular nuts to come loose. This makes them popular in the automotive industry, machinery and equipment assembly, industrial settings, and other situations where secure fastening is essential.
• Keps nuts, also known as K-nuts or star nuts, are a type of lock nut designed to prevent loosening due to vibration or other external forces. These nuts have a unique feature that sets them apart from standard hex nuts: they incorporate an internal or external star-shaped washer with evenly spaced teeth.
