About this item

  • SET YOUR SUSPENSION BY THE NUMBERS: Measure camber, caster and kingpin inclination on your own car or truck at home, so you can see where the front end sits after a ride height change, new coilovers, or uneven tire wear.
  • IN THE BOX: One camber, caster and kingpin inclination gauge and one composite carry case. Nothing else. Photographs show the gauge in use alongside other tools that are not part of this listing.
  • HOW IT MOUNTS: The magnetic base holds on a steel wheel, a brake disc, or a clean hub face. It does not hold by itself on an alloy or aluminum wheel.
  • MEASURES THREE ANGLES: Camber from +5 to -5 degrees, caster from +11 to -3 degrees, and kingpin inclination from 0 to 14 degrees, on the front wheels of cars and light trucks.
  • CASTER NEEDS THE WHEEL TO TURN: The caster method sweeps the wheel 20 degrees out, zeroes the vial, then sweeps 20 degrees in. The wheel has to be free to rotate on the spot for that step.
  • CAMBER VIAL IS PRESET: The camber vial is set at the factory, so there is no zeroing step before you use it. The caster and kingpin vial is adjustable and gets zeroed at the start of each sweep.
  • START LEVEL AND CLEAN: An angle taken on a sloped floor carries the slope with it. Put the vehicle on level ground, and wipe the hub face or wheel before the magnet goes on.
  • KINGPIN INCLINATION 0 TO 14 DEGREES: KPI is a diagnostic angle rather than one you adjust. A figure well outside the usual 5 to 10 degree band points at a bent steering knuckle.
