Product Description

Engineered for photographers carrying the largest DSLR and super-telephoto systems into demanding environments, the Shimoda Core Unit DSLR XL50 RST delivers maximum capacity, rapid access, and expedition-grade protection inside the Action X50 backpack. Built as part of Shimoda’s RST series, this Core Unit features Rear, Side, and Top access, allowing photographers to adapt instantly to terrain, weather, and shooting conditions without removing their pack. The XL50 RST is purpose-built to completely fill the main compartment of the Action X50, transforming the backpack into a dedicated long-lens platform for wildlife, sports, aviation, and remote adventure photography. Its extended internal height supports lenses up to 20.9 inches long, including 600mm f4 primes mounted to a camera body and large super-telephoto zooms such as 200-600mm, 400-800mm, 180-600mm, 200-800mm, and similar professional optics. Side access integrates directly with the Action X harness for fast camera retrieval on steep or unstable ground, while rear access provides full visibility and organization of the entire camera system. The top access zipper allows photographers to handle tall mounted lenses without opening the rear panel, minimizing exposure to dust, rain, or snow. Constructed with EVA-reinforced walls and precision dividers, the XL50 RST delivers superior impact protection while maintaining efficient internal volume. The DSLR-depth design accommodates gripped cameras up to 6.1 inches tall, enabling vertical lens storage for improved balance and faster packing. Included is Shimoda’s multi-purpose Skin, which protects the Core Unit during storage and doubles as a packing cell when removed. Built for professionals who demand speed, durability, and adaptability, the XL50 RST represents the maximum carrying potential of the Action X system in extreme outdoor conditions.
