- Light Testing Instructions To test the motion sensor or switch modes, fully cover the solar panel with an opaque object such as a book to simulate nighttime conditions. Tips: Avoid installing the light near porch lights, street lamps or other light sources. Otherwise, the fixture may fail to activate automatically and be mistaken for defective.
