About this item

  • 4x4 FOAM DRESSING WITH A BARRIER BACK - breathable polyurethane film seals the top face against splash; underneath stays free of any sticky layer.
  • MEDICAL FOAM PADDING FOR SKIN THAT CANNOT TAKE TAPE - non adherent pads for allergy, steroid-thinned tissue, or peri-wound already stripped. Hold with retention tape placed well away from the site, a roll, or compression.
  • KEEPS OUTPUT OFF THE BEDDING - unlike unbacked foam dressings for wounds, the film blocks strike-through from behind, so drainage stays in the pad. Non stick bandages that leave the sheet dry.
  • ONE SIZE, ONE JOB - the 4x4 in foam pad covers everyday general use with room to land on intact skin all the way round.
  • CHANGE ON A SCHEDULE, NOT A GUESS - clean by conventional methods, dry the area, overlap healthy skin by an inch, then secure the foam wound dressing and reassess at every change.
  • WHAT ARRIVES: 12 individually sealed sterile pouches, each one 4x4 inches. Sterile until the pouch is opened, so an opened box keeps as long as the remaining pouches stay intact and dry.
  • HOW IT DIFFERS FROM PLAIN FOAM: the film on the back stops output reaching a sheet, a gown or a compression layer, which is the usual reason an unbacked pad gets changed early. You get the same bare foam against the site with none of the laundry. Expect longer between changes on a moderately draining wound.
  • WHO REACHES FOR THIS ONE: the case where an adhesive is not wanted at all - a documented tape allergy, peri-wound skin already stripped by a previous dressing, very frequent dressing changes, or a wound already being held under a wrap or compression system where a second adhesive would only add trauma.
  • WHAT THIS IS NOT, SO NOTHING ARRIVES AS A SURPRISE: it has no adhesive, so it needs tape, a roll or compression to stay in place. It contains no silicone, no silver and no medication. The film is a splash barrier, not an immersion seal. If you want a dressing that stays on by itself, choose our self-adhesive version; if you want maximum breathability and do not need the moisture barrier, choose the plain white foam.
  • SECURING IT WELL, THE PART MOST PEOPLE GET WRONG: tape onto healthy skin well clear of the wound margin, never across the pad face, and never in a complete ring around a limb. Four short strips at the corners hold better than two long ones and let the pad lift slightly as it swells. Under compression, let the wrap do the holding and use tape only to stop the pad sliding while you work.
