About this item

• WATCH REAL SCIENCE HAPPEN RIGHT IN THEIR HANDS: Sodium polyacrylate powder explodes into fluffy fake snow, a frozen iceberg erupts in a fizzing blue chemical reaction, and pipe cleaner snowflakes grow a full sparkling crystal coating overnight. Every result is something kids made themselves, not something they watched happen.
• 29 EXPERIMENTS THAT ACTUALLY HOLD THEIR ATTENTION: 14 guided kit activities take kids through instant snow, mint-scented slime, glacier crystal growing, snowman building, and a spinning water vortex tornado, plus 15 bonus DIY experiments using household items that keep the curiosity going long after the kit supplies run out.
• THE SCIENCE IS REAL AND THE MANUAL PROVES IT: Every activity includes a plain-language explainer covering why baking soda and citric acid react, how supersaturated solutions grow crystals, and what centripetal force has to do with a tornado, so kids walk away understanding what they just did and why it worked.
• EVERYTHING THEY NEED IS ALREADY IN THE BOX: Instant snow powder, crystal growing powder, crystal seed rock, iceberg mold, ball molds, snowman accessories, slime powder, aluminum powder, baking soda, citric acid, blue powder, glitter, food coloring, mint scent, pipe cleaners, tornado connector, mixing bowls, and more with no last-minute trips to the store.
• 15 BONUS EXPERIMENTS KEEP CURIOUS KIDS GOING: A separate bonus booklet extends the fun well past the kit supplies, with kids excavating frozen toys from a block of ice, testing blubber insulation like a marine mammal, growing salt crystals on a pipe cleaner tree, and building a DIY snow globe using household materials they already have.
• A STEM SCIENCE GIFT KIDS AGES 8 TO 12 ACTUALLY USE: Carries the STEM Seal of Authenticity and covers real chemistry, geology, and meteorology through every activity, with illustrated step-by-step instructions that make it easy to tackle solo or with a parent alongside for the heat-involved experiments.

Product Description

29 Experiments. Real Science. A Frozen World to Explore. The Discovery Frozen Earth Science Kit gives kids ages 8 and up 29 hands-on experiments built around the science of ice, snow, crystals, and polar environments. Not simulations. Not videos to watch. Real activities that produce results kids can touch, erupt, grow, and build. Every project connects to genuine concepts in chemistry, geology, and meteorology, and every result is something worth talking about. What Kids Actually MakeAcross 14 guided kit experiments, kids grow a real glacier crystal from a supersaturated solution, make fluffy instant snow from sodium polyacrylate powder, shape that snow into a three-ball snowman complete with accessories, mix mint-scented snowflake slime from scratch, freeze a saltwater iceberg and set off a fizzing blue chemical eruption, grow sparkling crystals on flat and 3D pipe cleaner snowflakes overnight, fold origami paper into one-of-a-kind snowflake designs, and create a spinning water vortex tornado using the included connector and two household bottles. Every experiment has a clear purpose and every result is something worth showing off.The Science Behind the FunThe included manual goes beyond telling kids what to do. It explains why it works. Each experiment includes a "The Science Behind This" section and a "Did You Notice?" observation prompt that turns play into genuine learning. Kids find out that sodium polyacrylate absorbs more than 100 times its weight in water, that icebergs are made of freshwater not saltwater, and that crystals form when a supersaturated solution can no longer hold its dissolved molecules. The manual also covers five frozen earth science topics including glaciology, sea ice dynamics, polar biology, snow science, and ice chemistry, giving curious kids real scientific vocabulary to go with everything they build.15 Bonus DIY Experiments Keep the Learning GoingOnce the kit supplies are used, a 15-experiment bonus booklet opens up a second round of discovery using household materials. Kids excavate toys frozen inside a block of ice, test how blubber insulates like a marine mammal, make hot ice from vinegar and baking soda, grow salt crystals on a pipe cleaner tree, paint on a frozen canvas, and build a DIY snow globe. Each bonus experiment uses the same illustrated step-by-step format as the main kit so kids can jump right in.Product Features29 science experiments: 14 guided kit activities plus 15 bonus DIY home experimentsCovers chemistry, geology, and meteorologyExperiments include instant snow, snowflake slime, crystal growing, iceberg eruption, tornado vortex, snowman building, ice painting, snow globe, and moreIllustrated step-by-step instructions with science explainers and observation promptsSTEM Seal of AuthenticityAges 8 and upGreat birthday or holiday science gift for kids ages 8 to 12Adult supervision required for select activities involving hot water or expanding materialsWhat's in the Box1 x Tornado connector1 x Iceberg mold3 x Ball molds (small, medium, large)1 x Ice cube tray4 x Snowman accessories2 x Mixing bowls1 x Container with lid1 x Measuring cup1 x Scoop2 x Mix sticks4 x Pipe cleaners1 x Sheet of origami paper1 x Crystal seed rock1 x Crystal growing container2 x Bottles of food coloring (0.17 fl. oz. / 5 mL each)1 x Pack of aluminum powder (3.0 oz. / 85 g)2 x Packs of citric acid (0.53 oz. / 15 g each)2 x Packs of baking soda (0.53 oz. / 15 g each)1 x Pack of blue powder (0.18 oz. / 5 g)1 x Pack of instant snow powder (1.23 oz. / 35 g)1 x Pack of slime powder (0.35 oz. / 10 g)1 x Pack of crystal growing powder (1.6 oz. / 45 g)2 x Packs of glitter (0.18 oz. / 5 g each)1 x Bottle of mint scent (0.17 fl. oz. / 5 mL)Instruction manual with science facts, safety warnings, and illustrated experiment guidesBonus DIY home experiment booklet (15 additional experiments)
