Bat-El was born into a small and isolated community of Hebrews who had preserved the traditions of Israel for generations. Long after the destruction of Jerusalem and the scattering of the Jewish people, her village remained devoted to the teachings and memory of the patriarchs. In a world where few girls were taught to read, Bat-El’s grandmother placed the sacred scrolls in her hands and taught her the stories that shaped their people: the creation of the world, the Garden of Eden, and the Tree of Life that once stood at its center. To Bat-El, they were only stories. After raiders attack her village, Bat-El watches her family and her community collapse. As survivors are taken captive, Bat-El is forced into the household of an enemy prince, catering to her new masters' every whim. Life becomes a daily struggle to endure loss, fear, and the harsh rule of those who conquered her people. But Bat-El refuses to forget who she is.When her mother falls gravely ill and all efforts to save her fail, Bat-El convinces her captors to let her travel in search of the Garden of Eden and the Tree of Life, whose fruit can bring life to anyone who eats it. With little more than her faith in herself and her people, Bat-El embarks on a search that will lead her across unknown lands, force her to confront her own past, and challenge everything she believes about God, life, and destiny.Back to the Tree of Life is a biblical historical novel about faith, survival, and the courage to pursue hope even when the world says it is impossible—perfect for readers who enjoy historical fiction rooted in Scripture and stories of personal faith set in ancient Israel.
