Waltz For Debby [Opaque Baby Pink Colored Vinyl] - lp_record

Product Description

Bill Evans Trio – Waltz For Debby [Opaque Baby Pink Colored Vinyl | 180g Audiophile Pressing]On June 25, 1961, the Bill Evans Trio walked onto the stage of the Village Vanguard in New York and delivered one of the most transcendent performances in jazz history. Just ten days later, bassist Scott LaFaro – a revolutionary talent who had redefined the role of the double bass in jazz – was killed in a car accident. 'Waltz For Debby' is the second album from those historic sessions, and the final recording of the legendary trio that also featured drummer Paul Motian. While the companion album 'Sunday at the Village Vanguard' focused on LaFaro's solo work, 'Waltz For Debby' is a portrait of the trio itself – a breathtaking display of interplay, lyricism, and emotional depth. Evans chose the material here, and in doing so revealed a different side of his musical personality: intensely romantic, flagrantly emotional, and deeply impressionistic. His harmonic architecture plays off the middle registers, setting into motion numerous melodic fragments simultaneously.🎹 Why This Limited Baby Pink Vinyl Edition Belongs in Your Collection✔ Stunning Opaque Baby Pink Colored Vinyl – A beautiful, soft pink pressing that mirrors the warmth and intimacy of Evans' music. My Romance🎧 The Legacy – Why This Album MattersThe Village Vanguard sessions of June 1961 represent the pinnacle of the Bill Evans Trio's artistry. LaFaro's bass playing on this recording is nothing short of revolutionary – his light-as-a-feather pizzicato work and telepathic interaction with Evans and Motian set a new standard for jazz trio performance. Motian's brushwork is delicate, flighty, and elegant. Evans' deeply emotional statements swing effortlessly, revealing an intensely romantic player who had never been heard on his earlier solo recordings or during his tenures with Miles Davis and George Russell.Of the many recordings Evans issued, the two Vanguard dates – 'Sunday at the Village Vanguard' and 'Waltz For Debby' – are considered the ultimate expressions of his genius. This is not just a "greatest hits" compilation – it's a complete artistic statement, a moment of musical transcendence captured on vinyl. Every note, from Evans' cascading piano lines to LaFaro's groundbreaking bass work, is presented here in stunning audiophile quality.Perfect for: Vinyl collectors seeking a visually striking, limited color edition of an essential jazz masterpiece.
