About
12-pint Crawls "CR" Glazes class pack includes 11 colors – one 16 oz. (473 mL) jar each of CR-12 Speckled White, CR-17 Flux Crawl, CR-18 Speckled Flux Crawl, CR-20 Dark Blue, CR-22 Speckled Teal, CR-41 Lime, CR-51 Speckled Pink, CR-54 Purple, CR-58 Red, and CR-61 Speckled Yellow, and two 16 oz. (473 mL) jars of CR-1 Black.
Bring ceramic surfaces to life with the unique, spontaneous patterns of intermixable, mid-high fire (Cone 5-6) AMACO Crawls "CR" Glazes! These glazes are made to embrace glaze crawl. Traditionally seen as a flaw, crawling occurs when the glaze pulls back from the surface during firing, creating a textured, uneven finish that reveals the underlying clay body or other glaze layers.
Apply 1-4 even coats of glaze to Cone 04 bisque, then fire to Cone 5-6; allow each coat to dry almost fully but before any significant cracking occurs. Crawls require space to develop their unique look and are ideal for larger forms with significant surface area.
Glazes develop hairline cracks as they dry; increased coats will produce more cracks. More coats create larger glaze dots; thinner coats produce a finer bead effect.
Crawls can be used independently or layered over underglazes or other Cone 5-6 glazes like AMACO Celadon "C" Glazes for dynamic effects. Intermixable within the line; create custom colors!

Traditionally seen as a flaw, these glazes are made to embrace glaze crawl. Crawling occurs when the glaze pulls back from the surface during firing, creating a textured, uneven finish that reveals the underlying clay body or other glaze layers. Ideal for larger forms with significant surface area, Crawls require space to develop their unique look. Crawls can be used independently or layered over underglazes or other Cone 5-6 glazes like AMACO Celadon "C" Glazes for dynamic effects; the crawling will reveal underlying glaze layers, adding interest, depth, and contrast. Apply 1-4 even coats of glaze to Cone 04 bisque, then fire to Cone 5-6; allow each coat to dry almost fully but before any significant cracking occurs. Crawl glazes will develop hairline cracks as they dry; handle with care. More coats create larger glaze dots; thinner coats produce a finer bead effect. Increased coats will produce more cracks.
