Marian and her dogs, Abbey and Floey, talk about everything - from hurt feelings to the meaning of life, from the beauty in nature to the anger that drives politics. Each of the 52 conversations recorded in this book offers an insight worth pondering. Occasionally, God even throws something into the conversation with a pertinent reference to a Bible verse.Marian has a long history of having conversations with her dogs. She talked with her first dog, Bullet, when she was a small child. Bullet was a stray German shepherd mix who wandered onto the Korth farm and decided to stay. He taught Marian to listen quietly to hear the wisdom a dog could impart. As an adult Marian moved to Chicago, where she and her life partner, Mim, lived for twenty years. Together they adopted Meg and Maia, who taught them that dogs possess more love and wisdom than they had ever imagined possible. The four of them eventually moved back to the farm in Wisconsin, where the dogs became coworkers in their home-based businesses - first a bed and breakfast, and then as a home to provide assisted living and hospice care for elderly residents, one or two at a time. When Meg and then Maia had to retire, Marian and Mim adopted Abbey and later Floey to become their loving canine caregivers for their assisted living residents. The conversations recorded in this book are the conversations Marian had with Abbey and Floey over about twenty years. Read more
