- Install TIAS around all through-wall penetrations and along joints and seams that separate conditioned from non-conditioned spaces where air leakage is most likely to occur. This includes, but is not limited to, seams that separate:
- Over joints and seams in ceiling, walls or floor planes. The mudsill from the concrete slab.
- The bottom plate from the mudsill. The bottom plate from the sheathed floor assembly.
- The top plate from the second top plate. Around through-wall pentration(s).
- Properly installed, TIAS penetrates deeply and seals gaps in construction that can compromise building performance and durability. TIAS maintains its air-sealing function long after interior spaces are conditioned and occupied.
