FLEXIBLE: The Sony MCX-500 8-Input 4-Video Channel Global Production Streaming/Recording Switcher is not just a compact 8-input switcher. It’s a universal system compatible with both 60 and 50 Hz production formats, enabling you to operate it virtually anywhere across the globe.
The device is equipped with multiple inputs: four 3G-SDI, two HDMI, and two composite (CVBS). Each of these inputs has its own frame synchronizer, enabling the integration of various input sources. The device processes the incoming footage at 1080i internally.
SIMPLE OPERATION: The MCX-500 is designed with a combination of a manual control interface and a touchscreen LCD, which can be managed directly or via a networked device. As anticipated from a professional mixer, it incorporates built-in effects such as cut, mix, wipe, and key.

The Sony MCX-500 8-Input 4-Video Channel Global Production Streaming/Recording Switcher is not just a simple 8-input switcher. It’s a versatile system that caters to both 60 and 50 Hz production formats, making it usable virtually anywhere across the globe. It comes with four 3G-SDI inputs, two HDMI, and two composite (CVBS) inputs, each equipped with an individual frame synchronizer, enabling the mixing of different input sources. The device processes the input footage internally at 1080i. The MCX-500 combines a manual control surface with a touchscreen LCD that you can control locally or from a networked device. As you would expect from a professional mixer, cut, mix, wipe, and key effects are built into the unit. In addition to the program and multiview preview outputs, the switcher can also live stream to services such as Ustream via Ethernet, without requiring additional hardware. Likewise, the MCX-500 can record the program stream to an SD card, not included, via the built-in SD card slot. Beyond just the video switching capabilities, it is also a 5-channel audio mixer.
